The second half of the year, will not be a boring one for the PFA. We have a number of events and fundraisers in the pipeline (and we haven’t even mentioned the wonderful end of year Christmas celebrations yet!)
Fathers’ Day at SPW
Fathers, Grandads and special friends will once again be celebrated at the much loved Fathers’ Day Breakfast on Friday 31 August. Each year the PFA welcomes over 300 (last year it was in excess of 400) students and dads (etc) to enjoy breakfast on the lawns of McKenzie Oval in the hour before school starts. We invite you to pre-order your breakfast now via trybooking. Or click here to find out more about the breakfast.
Thanks again to Somerton Rotary Club who assist the PFA prepare breakfast for all our hungry guests.
Spring is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than gather together for a parent night out. Tickets have gone on sale for our Seaside Fiesta which will be held early in Term 4 (Saturday 27 October) at the Somerton Yacht Club. Early Bird prices and a bonus Riedel glass for the first 100 bookings are on offer now. Last year our Winter Reds event was a night to remember. Major Fundraiser – Sail Away
The PFA is excited to launch its major fundraiser for the year later this term – a raffle to win a family cruise holiday. The prize is a $5,000 Cruiseabout Gift Voucher which can be used towards any cruise line, from any port, to any location, anytime (including flights if needed). It is valid for up to twenty four (24) months. One book of 20 raffle tickets per school family will be sent home and each ticket sells for $3.00. The proceeds raised will assist with the PFA initiatives for 2018. Read more information here.
Where does the money go?
The fundraising efforts of the PFA are aligned with the School’s Foundation goals and the PFA is proud to support initiatives from which all SPW students will benefit. Earlier in the year, at a PFA General Meeting the quorum voted on a number of school projects to support this year. The major projects this year include supporting the Foundation Annual Appeal with the upgrade of the Nutter Thomas Kitchens into a purpose built learning facility, and additional resources to enhance the STEM learning spaces in the Library. Mark Le Messurier
Last term we reported about our first Speaker Night where Mark Le Messurier shared his insights into the adolescent brain, and how the human brain undertakes significant changes as children develop into young adults. We have had requests from parents on how they can access more information about Mark and his presentation topics. Visit www.marklemessurier.com.au
We look forward to seeing you at one of our events later this term/year. We’d like to thank you in advance for supporting these exciting initiatives and for assisting us build such a dynamic and engaged school community.
