What an amazing year of events for the PFA! Term 4 has been no different with some great memories for the students to take home with them as the school year finishes.
A vibrant pop soundtrack accompanied the students as they participated in this year’s Walkathon early in November. The day is a true community event with many parents, grandparents and younger siblings joining in as the children completed laps of the school’s ovals.
Not only does this event combine fun and fitness but this year it raised over $11,000 which the PFA donated to various school projects. A number of children received prizes for raising significant amounts of money and two classes who collectively raised the most money enjoyed a pizza lunch. Thank you for once again supporting the PFA Walkathon.
Christmas Lunch and ELC Brunch
Every year the School Christmas Lunch and ELC Brunch gets better and better! Christmas Carols are sung, food is shared and excited chatter fills the hall as children celebrate the festive season and the end of another school year.
Foundation to Year 7s gathered together in Baddams Hall and Nutter Thomas on the last Friday of term, while ELC students celebrated in the Village Square in the Early Learning Centre in the last week of school.
This year to extend the true meaning of the festive season, a proportion of the students were encouraged to bring packaged food donations to the Anglicare Christmas Appeal, which also minimised wastage.
Volunteers – What would we do without you!
Every PFA event held throughout 2017 was coordinated and run by members of our school community who volunteered hours of their time. These event coordinators and committees created and managed some fantastic events this year, many which sold out in record time, and must be thanked for their dedication.
To all the amazing PFA Class Representative who have helped promote our events to their classes; collected raffle tickets; assisted with the Walkathon and have generally promoted the PFA message, we thank you for your year-long commitment. Your enthusiasm has ensured that our events have been so well received and supported.
The PFA must also thank the many staff at SPW, including the teaching, office, maintenance, leadership team and those from the development office for their continued support.
Looking toward 2018
An exciting year of events is already planned for 2018 and more details will follow next year.
Save the Date – Colour Fun Run – Sunday 8 April
The day will allow everyone from the school community to gather together and enjoy a day of music; outdoor fun; food and drink in a carnival style atmosphere. The SPW Colour Fun Run, the logo was designed by one of our students – Ginger, will be officially launched and registrations opened in the first weeks of next year’s term. We hope you will put this date in your diary now and will come along and enjoy a great day. More details in Term 1.
Thanks again for all your support throughout the year and we look forward to seeing you in 2018.
