Communion service

It was a wonderful way to end our second term chapel services this week with eight students from Years 3 and 4 being formally Admitted to Communion. The students gave up their lunchtime once a week for four weeks to attend preparation sessions led by Rev’d Andrew and Rev’d Michele, the school chaplains.

As part of the ceremony the eight students recited a prayer together: “In the bread we break and the wine we share, be known to us Lord Jesus.”

It was a special moment for all eight students to be able to receive Communion for the first time. At present Communion is taken by bread only intincted with a drop of wine. (COVID restrictions prevent the sharing of the Communion cup at the moment.)

As baptism is a pre-requisite for Admission to Communion, two of the students were baptised in a ceremony prior to the chapel service surrounded by family and friends.
