Year 7 students inspired and excited during City Week.
Last week was the much anticipated City Week for the Year 7 students and we had a fabulous time touring businesses and establishments throughout Adelaide’s CBD. Students worked closely with one another to: research, plan, take notes, photograph and navigate themselves around our city. This year, an additional treat was included as we enjoyed dinner at a local Italian restaurant, followed by a sleepover at the Adelaide YHA.
Learning about Sustainability, Liveability and Change
The 4 day excursion was a unique opportunity for students to learn about the many varied opportunities our city has to offer for people to work and live in today and tomorrow’s evolving times. Our units of work on Sustainability, Liveability and Change were at the heart of our discussions and formed the basis for on-going learning on these important and relevant topics as we progress through Terms 2 and 3.
Development of Adelaide
The students were inspired by how Adelaide has developed over the years and excited by the future and what it may bring for them. Overwhelming factors that emerged during our visits and through tour guides was the importance of inclusivity, collaboration and effective communication in the workplace. We are keeping these at the forefront of our minds as we continue through our final year at St Peter’s Woodlands.
The visit to the Fire Station, hosted by Cecilia Low, one of our SPW parents, was another highlight.
Of course, Treeclimb was also a standout venue and a wonderful finish to an outstanding experience.
The slushies at the end went down well too!
Thank you to Lynn Lee, Year 7 Teacher, for sharing this story.
