Celebrations, Graduations, Lunches, Brunches and a whole lot of joy!
It’s been another huge term and it is always surprising how much the school manages to fit in over eight and a half weeks – it showcases just how many cogs work together to make SPW hum….and sing!
The closing of a year always brings about many celebrations, the closing of some chapters and the beginnings of others, it also gives us a pause to remember the true meaning of Christmas – togetherness, love and kindness, particularly to those who need it most. Thank you to the PFA, the teachers, the parents, the administration staff and of course, the kids – who makes us smile and really do make this time of year magic!
ELC Pageant
The ELC once again joined in the Glenelg Christmas Pageant. Adorned with sparkly stars and bright smiles, the group made their way down Jetty Road spreading Christmas cheer as they went. They even made it onto Channel 7 News.
Christmas on the Green
The annual Christmas on the Green took place on a beautiful sunny Friday evening. Sprawled out on the lawn, families lay out picnic rugs to enjoy the entertainment of the student Instrumental Ensembles, the combined SPW Choirs of Junior Glee, Show Choir, Chapel Choir and the School Band. It was a joyous night for the community to come together and send out the year.
Reception Nativity Play
The SPW students and staff, and Reception parents, were treated to the Reception performance, Twinkly Nativity. Even a Christmas Grinch would have their heart melted by this sweet performance. The children absolutely shone, delivering their lines loudly and confidently, and with perfect comedic timing.
The Mary Potter Hospice Christmas Carols Concert
It is a long-standing tradition that St Peter’s Woodlands perform as part of the Loving Tree Christmas Carols Concert for the Mary Potter Foundation. It is a privilege to be a part of such a special night that honours loved ones who have passed over the course of the year. The students sang beautifully and conducted themselves with compassion and kindness.
PFA R-6 Christmas Lunch and ELC Brunch
Reception to Year 6 students and staff gathered at the Piltangka Plaza for the annual PFA Christmas Lunch. The space was beautifully decorated, with hand illustrated bunting and painted stars done by the students. The long list of logistics to give 582 kids a joyous Christmas lunch is a huge feat and is understandably a crowd favourite.
The following Tuesday the ELC had their Christmas Brunch in the Village Square. Before the festivities began, each class got up and performed a Christmas song. After a big applaud from their adoring fans (parents and staff), the children enjoyed a special brunch on their beautifully decorated tables and a visit from Santa and a very excitable elf.
A big thank you to the PFA members and volunteers for coordinating these two events, plus the Christmas Raffle, co-sponsoring Christmas on the Green, AnglicareSA Toy Trailer and the Kytons fundraiser. May you all have a restful break after all that.
AnglicareSA Donations
Following the success of last year, the PFA organised a toy trailer to offer families the opportunity to donate a gift to AnglicareSA. The generosity of the SPW families has meant AnglicareSA, can give those in need a brighter Christmas with some gifts under the tree. Likewise, the food donated by the SPW community will aid in giving many families, during a particular tough year, some food this Christmas. SPW’s donations assisted in making 1700 hampers – an amazing effort for an amazing cause.
