Fresh faces and new ideas in Specialty Subjects

As we begin a new school year, we would like to welcome and introduce some new staff and outline key staffing changes in some of our specialty subjects. These changes bring a mix of fresh faces and familiar names, who will bring energy with new ideas and initiatives to these much loved areas of the school.

Library
Mrs Lindy Francis, formerly one of our Year 1 teachers, has taken on the role of Information Literacy Teacher in the Library. Lindy has worked across diverse backgrounds, including marketing and brand strategy, and brings with her a strong background in curriculum resource development, expertise in structured synthetic phonics and a passion for developing student’s writing skills. Lindy is joined by Mrs Kate Anolak, in the School Librarian role. The community will know Kate from her administrative role in school operations and events. Kate, who is also a former teacher, brings a wealth of knowledge in building and maintaining systems to ensure the smooth operational running of the Library.

Sport Department and Physical Education
We welcome Mr Tom Mitton who has taken the role of Head of Sport and Physical Education and will be teaching Year 3 to 6 students. Tom comes to us from an independent school in Sydney in which he ran the primary sports program, including an extensive after-school hours sporting program. Tom currently plays hockey and enjoys running. Tom is joined by Miss Emily Bert, formerly one of our Year 6 teachers. Emily will be teaching P.E to Reception to Year 2 students and Year 6 students in partnership with Tom. She is thrilled to take on this role and is grateful for the opportunity to foster her passion for sports. Mrs Jane Fahey continues in her role as Administration Assistant to Sports and PE.

Visual Art Department
Mrs Lisa Fisher, who some will recognise from her teaching position as last year’s Mid Year Reception teacher, has a wealth of experience in teaching Receptions and is delighted to be teaching the Receptions art this year. Ms Sarah Casson joins us from St Peter’s Girls Junior School where she spent the last eight years as the Art teacher. Prior to that she worked at Eton House in Singapore and is an esteemed visual artist in her own right. Sarah will be teaching art to Year 1 to 3 students. Mrs Jess Vann (formerly known as Jess Hancock) will continue to teach art to Year 4 to 6 students.
