Grandparents & Special Friends Day- Year 3 to 6

29 October 2024

On a bright Spring morning, over 300 grandparents and special friends gathered to share a memorable day with the Year 3 to 6 children.

Our guests were warmly welcomed into the classrooms, where students had the opportunity to share their work as well as work together on learning activities. The day’s highlights included lively performances in the chapel, where students entertained their guests with a variety of acts. The performances ranged from raps, ukulele pieces, and plays rehearsed during the student’s music lessons. There was also poetry readings from the IPSHA Poetry Competition participants whilst some children even gave their visitors a light-hearted lesson in current-day slang, bridging generational gaps with humour and charm. The chapel was full of adoring visitors as they enjoyed both fun and heartfelt moments.

After these performances, the children and their visitors enjoyed a morning tea outdoors, where they could relax and chat. Some even took part in an SPW hunt, exploring different parts of the school. Thank you to the PFA who kindly donated their time to ensure our visitors could enjoy a warm drink and sweet treat.

This celebration was particularly special as it marked the 25th anniversary of St Peter’s Woodlands. The occasion was topped off with three cheers for the school followed by a cake-cutting ceremony led by Principal Mrs Finlay.

We hope everyone involved felt truly appreciated. We are deeply grateful for the important role these beloved grandparents and special friends play in the lives of our students.
