Pathways to Secondary School

Transition to Secondary & Pathways

At St Peter’s Woodlands, we understand that choosing the right secondary school is an important decision for families. We are proud to see our students continue their educational journey in a variety of excellent schools, equipped with the skills, values, and confidence they develop during their time at St Peter’s Woodlands.

We recognise that every family has unique considerations when selecting a secondary school, including academic offerings, location, family history, and individual student needs. To support a seamless transition, we have established pathways with leading secondary schools that align with our values and educational approach.

Our Secondary School Pathways

To provide a smooth transition for our students, St Peter’s Woodlands has formal partnerships with Pulteney Grammar School, St John’s Grammar School, Walford and Immanuel College. These partnerships create direct pathways for our students, offering familiarity and continuity in their educational experience.

St John’s Grammar School offers limited scholarships for Year 7 or 8 entry, to students currently attending St Peter’s Woodlands.

In addition, many of our students receive offers to a range of other schools, including Westminster School and Sacred Heart College. We are also proud to celebrate St Peter’s Woodlands alumni who go on to achieve leadership positions, including becoming Year 12 school captains.

Preparing Our Students for Secondary School

At St Peter’s Woodlands, we ensure our students are well-equipped for the next stage of their education through the DARE – Year 6 Graduate Diploma. This program fosters independence, resilience, and critical thinking, helping students develop essential life skills. The DARE Graduate Diploma prepares students academically, socially, and emotionally for the transition to secondary school, empowering them to embrace new challenges with confidence.

Preparing the students for high school is a key part of the entire DARE Diploma year. The Year 6 Transition to Secondary School Program is one of the five Wellbeing & Grit learning activities and is dedicated to focussing on the essential aspect of readiness, recognising the pivotal role it plays in our ability to navigate upcoming challenges.

Throughout the year, Year 6 teachers have included a range of activities and strategies to help support our students in making a successful transition.
