Our annual St Peter’s Woodlands Vocal Cabaret lit up the stage, dazzling the audience with the incredible talent and passion of our budding young singers!
Students performed in two shows, one to an appreciative morning crowd and another to a sold out evening crowd with over 200 people. It was a spectacular event showcasing the talents of our singers, from Year 1 to Year 6.
The Show Choir opened the Cabaret with an epic 10 minute medley of songs from the musical Wicked. From the energy of ‘One Short Day’ to the hilarious ‘Popular’, the poignancy of ‘For Good’ and ending with the soul stirring ‘Defying Gravity’, the Show Choir blew the roof off the Chapel.
Participating in a vocal cabaret like this builds confidence, stage presence, and resilience, as students step outside their comfort zones to perform in front of an audience.
We had over 35 different solos and duets from our brave singers. To quote Mrs Finlay, “Being brave doesn’t mean you’re not scared – it means you do it anyway”. I am so proud of our young singers who gave it their all to perform a memorable show. Seeing the growth of our older singers is fantastic to witness.
We were treated to music theatre classics like, ‘Be Our Guest’ from Beauty and the Beast and ‘Tomorrow’ from Annie, to current pop songs such as, ‘Our Song’ and ‘Unstoppable’ and Disney hits like ‘Beyond’ from Moana 2, ‘This Wish’ from Wish and ‘Feed the Birds’ from Mary Poppins.
The evening concluded on absolute high with Lady Gaga’s and Bruno Mars’ hit, ‘Die With A Smile’ performed by the Show Choir.
We are so proud of all our singers and can confidently say, ‘the Sound of Music’ is well and truly alive at SPW!
