Many hands make light work!
A Whole School Community Effort
This year’s Clean Up Australia Day was our biggest yet, with an incredible turnout of volunteers from across the St Peter’s Woodlands community. From our youngest helpers in the Early Learning Centre to a large and enthusiastic Year 6 contingent, students, families, and staff all came together to make a real difference.
With the careful planning and support of our wonderful staff, the day ran smoothly from start to finish. A steady stream of volunteers arrived early, followed by a floodgate of enthusiastic participants at 9:30, ready to do their part for the environment.
Cleaning, prepping and sorting
Our dedicated volunteers took on a variety of tasks to clean up and beautify our school and local community. Nature Play was tidied, garden veggie beds were weeded and prepped for the Garden Club, and teams scoured the school grounds, uncovering rubbish hidden in those tricky-to-reach spots. Groups of students and families, proudly wearing their Nature Guardians vests, ventured into the surrounding streets, collecting bottles, cans, general waste, and even some surprising finds—including old thongs, batteries, a supermarket trolley, and a lucky $50 note!
Thank you
After a productive morning, everyone returned to the school grounds to enjoy a well-earned treat. Our friends from What the Croque provided delicious coffee, while the PFA ensured the children were rewarded with scrumptious donuts, generously supplied by a wonderful SPW family business —thank you to Unique Homestyle Foods.
A huge thank you to everyone who RSVP’d, a whooping 180 of you, and joined us on the day. Your efforts made a meaningful impact, helping to clean up SPW, Glenelg, and beyond. This dedicated band of environmental warriors truly showed the power of community and care for our planet. Well done, SPW!
