This term the ELC children welcomed their Grandparents or Special Friend for an afternoon of fun.
Across three afternoons visitors were treated to numerous activities, including craft experiences, ranging from decorating picture frames, creating clay bowls, making pasta necklaces and beaded bracelets to making love heart cards together for the visitors to take home.
The children were experts in sharing their ‘work’ with the visitors, experiences such as puzzles, building with the magnetic and timber blocks, role playing and dressing-up in the varied home corners, creating sandcastles in the sandpit in Pier St Playground, making at the playdough table, building the train set and making dinosaurs roar, just to name a few!
Many stories were shared on the couch with plenty of cuddles on the laps of the Grandparents and Special friends. The children sang some of their favourite songs and shared their end of day routine – telling the guests what they were grateful for that day, singing the goodbye song and Kaurna farewell!
We know how important the role grandparents and special friends play in the lives of our ELC families, and how it takes a village to raise a child. All of our buckets are full from the visits from our special visitors and we cannot wait to do it all again next year!
