Faith

Term 4 is certainly a term of celebrations at SPW.

Confirmation & a Blessing
We were delighted to once again welcome Assistant Bishop of Adelaide, The Right Rev’d Sophie Relf-Christopher to our Week 2 Chapel service to Confirm in the Faith two Year 6 students, Steffan and Adrien. At the conclusion of the service Bishop Sophie then blessed the relocated memorial garden which is nestled quietly alongside the chapel respectfully remembering some former Old Scholars with memorial plaques.

Blessing of the Pets
Our much-anticipated Blessing of the Pets service was once again blessed with fabulous sunshine as a variety of dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, goldfish — and even an axolotl — graced McKenzie Oval. Students from the ELC to Year 6 gathered with their animal soft toys or photos of their pets, while a large crowd of parents joined in the fun, many bringing along their family pets.

These beloved animals are such an important part of our school families, and it is always wonderful to welcome them to this annual service. The event provided a beautiful opportunity to see our school values of service, wonder, respect, and courage in action.

It was heartwarming to witness the joy and positive impact pets bring to family life — and the extra love and care given to ensure they looked their best for the occasion. Congratulations to all students who demonstrated courage and resilience amid so many enthusiastic furry (and not-so-furry!) friends.

Upcoming Christmas Events
As we move towards the end of term the celebration of Christ’s birth at Christmas will be a feature of many of our services. There will also be many ways to help those in need this Christmas.

  • We will launch our AnglicareSA Christmas Appeal in Week 5 chapel service, collecting gifts and Christmas foods under the chapel Christmas tree until week 9.
  • Our Trailer of Toys Appeal will once again take place at Christmas on the Green.
  • The Reception Nativity is the highlight of Week 8
  • The Chapel Choir will present their Christmas Play on the final day of term in Week 9.
  • Also special this year is the biennial Christmas Tree Festival held at our Parish Church of St Peter’s (Torrens Square Glenelg). SPW Chapel choir will be performing at the Christmas tree festival at 1:45pm on Thursday 4th December. This fun event runs from Wednesday 3rd December – Sunday 7th December, concluding with Ukulele Carols at 5pm on the 7th. There’s an opportunity for Christmas entries from the school as well as individuals, parish and community groups. More details at: Christmas Tree Festival | Anglican Parish of Glenelg
