The hills were well and truly alive for our Senior Musical last term.
Performing on the round
‘The Sound of Music’ was held in St Margaret’s Chapel and was an outstanding success. As we excitedly await the completion of the Dr. Pamela Wall Multipurpose Centre, 12 months ago we faced the dilemma of where to stage this year’s musical. This led to the idea of presenting ‘The Sound of Music’ in the Chapel, reflecting the Christian values at the core of the show. Maria’s faith does not lead her on the path she expected, but it remains a constant in a changing world. It was a huge challenge to bring one of the world’s most beloved musicals to life in a round space like the Chapel.
Taking on challenging work
Working in the Chapel meant a more intimate and immersive experience. We hope you enjoyed being part of the story as it unfolded around you. The cast was also challenged with the adult themes and issues of the story. Standing up for what is right seems incredibly relevant to our world today. It was amazing to watch our students who are only between 8 and 13 years old handle this story and music with such maturity and skill. An incredible achievement.
Thank you
Thank you to the wonderful team of staff, parents and grandparents who have helped bring this experience to life for our students. It only happens with a fantastic team of people who support my vision and are willing to volunteer their time.
The show was received brilliantly with the over 140 students humbled by the generous feedback. Seeing Primary school children ‘climb every mountain’ and succeed created a lifelong core memory and something they’ll cherish for years to come.
