Exceeding State Averages Across all domains
Recent media coverage has highlighted concerns about NAPLAN performance, particularly in South Australia, where reading scores have notably declined. However, we are proud to announce that St Peter’s Woodlands has bucked this trend, demonstrating exceptional achievement across all domains.
While the current state average for students performing at ‘Strong’ or ‘Exceeding’ levels in Reading stands at 62.4%, with a 66% average across all domains, SPW’s results are significantly higher. We are excited to share the following outcomes with our community:
– Writing: 84.5% of students are performing at Strong or Exceeding levels.
– Reading: 85.7% of students are performing at Strong or Exceeding levels.
– Spelling: 85.5% of students are performing at Strong or Exceeding levels.
– Grammar and Punctuation: 76.5% of students are performing at Strong or Exceeding levels.
– Mathematics: 85% of students are performing at Strong or Exceeding levels.
This success is largely attributed to our innovative Teaching and Learning Framework, Project RISE, which emphasises the importance of explicit, direct instruction in literacy and numeracy. By combining this focused instruction with opportunities for students to apply their skills through rich mathematical investigations and engaging with literature and writing, we are creating an environment where every student can excel.
We are also proud to share that Project RISE recently won the National Award for Innovation in Curriculum Design, further cementing its impact on teaching and learning at SPW. Two years in the making, Project RISE is transforming the educational experience for our students, and these outstanding NAPLAN results are a testament to its effectiveness.
