PE Tournaments

10 April 2025

St Peter’s Woodlands Sports and PE kicked off the 2025 school year with two exciting new initiatives.

In Term 1, we kicked off two exciting new competitions to help students settle into the year: the RISE Up Cup for Years 3–5 and the DARE Wizard Cup for Year 6. Both were designed to boost teamwork, resilience, and social connections as students bonded with their new classmates.

Held during PE lessons, the students were randomly split into four teams, with points awarded for both individual effort and team success. A live scoreboard kept the energy high, with champions crowned in Week 5. Each competition aligned with the term’s curriculum and culminated in a final challenge that tested the students’ newly developed skills.

Throughout weeks 1–5, students engaged in a mix of traditional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander games—like Emu, Edor, and Jirrakayi-ku—alongside favourites such as Capture the Flag, Flag Tag, and Capture the Cone. These inclusive, high-energy activities encouraged problem-solving, adaptability, and most importantly, teamwork.

For Years 3–5, the RISE Up Cup focused on collaboration, communication, and perseverance. Year 6 students, meanwhile, rose to the challenge of the DARE Wizard Cup, where leadership and peer support were key. Across both events, it was fantastic to see camaraderie grow and confidence thrive in a fun, supportive environment.

A huge congratulations to all teams for their efforts, with final scores as follows:

RISE Up Cup (Years 3-5)

1 Patriots – 759
2 Titans – 743
3 Warriors – 732
4 Knights – 727

DARE Wizard Cup (Year 6)

1 Ravenclaw – 764
2 Gryffindor – 691
3 Hufflepuff – 650
4 Slytherin – 565

Both competitions were fantastic ways to set the tone for the school year, strengthening student connections while promoting physical activity, teamwork, enjoyment and some friendly competition. These initiatives have already proven to be valuable additions to our PE program, and we’re excited to see them continue to evolve!
