PFA Term 1 Wrap Up

10 April 2025

The PFA school year has begun in full swing, with a fantastic lineup of beloved events that have brought joy to our entire community.

Shrove Tuesday
We were thrilled to kick off the term by celebrating Shrove Tuesday with pancakes for everyone! The joy on the children’s faces made the occasion truly special. A huge thank you to our Year 6 PFA Representatives, Heather Chatterton, Shannon Raniga, and their wonderful team of volunteers for making this event such a success.

Clean Up Australia Day
On Sunday, March 2, SPW hosted Clean Up Australia Day. Armed with gloves, buckets, and tongs, our school community set out to collect rubbish from the streets surrounding the school. Others contributed by tidying up the school grounds and veggie patches. It was inspiring to see the children so eager to make a positive impact on the neighborhood and learn about waste separation. A big thank you to everyone who dedicated their Sunday morning to this cause, and to Unique Homestyle Foods for treating us to delicious donuts and What the Croque for wonderful coffee!

Summer’s End Soiree
After the postponement of last year’s Gala, we gave the event a fresh new twist—and it was a tremendous success! The evening offered the perfect opportunity for parents to unwind, have fun, and dance the night away. A heartfelt thank you to the local businesses who generously donated items for our wine wall and silent auction. A special shout-out goes to Sasha Grosset and Paul Mesecke for their unwavering support and tireless efforts in making the event so memorable. A big thank you to Old Scholar parent, Andrew Cropley for capturing the night so well with his photography and to our own Josh Pearce for providing great musical entertainment all night long, which sparked up a very active dance floor.

Easter Delights
Easter wouldn’t be complete without our beloved Easter Raffle, and this year’s prizes were nothing short of amazing! Vouchers for Chatime, Yo-Chi, and The Beachouse, along with chocolates and Easter novelties, were up for grabs. Congratulations to all the lucky winners, and a big thank you to Year 2 Representatives, Bec Stevens and Suzy Donnellan for organising the raffle so seamlessly. To top it off, Kyton’s Easter treats were delivered just in time to bring some festive cheer to the classrooms.

Free Coffee? Yes Please!
What’s better than a choir? A Chapel Choir performance with free coffee, of course! This year, we thought it would be lovely to give the school community a chance to enjoy our beautiful Chapel Choir, as many miss out on their performances. The PFA is always excited to bring the community together, and it was wonderful to enjoy great music and coffee while catching up with friends. It was fantastic to see our ELC parents join us on a Tuesday morning for the performance. Well done, Chapel Choir!

Reception Easter Egg Hunt
The annual Reception Easter Egg Hunt was an absolute delight to witness. Reception students and their siblings were invited to Partridge House Garden, where they dashed around the beautiful grounds, squealing with excitement as they searched for hidden Easter treasures. A big thank you to Reception PFA Representatives Jess Hodges and Tiff Noble for organising this much-loved Easter tradition.

Coming Up
We are looking forward to Term 2 and can’t wait to celebrate all the amazing mums on Mother’s Day! We are excited to offer a special opportunity for our community to spoil their mums, step-mums, grandmas, or that special person in their life at our much-loved Mother’s Day Stall, running from May 5–9 (Week 2 of Term 2). Students from ELC to Year 6 will have the chance to visit the stall with their teachers to pick out a thoughtful gift for their loved ones. Stay tuned for more details on Audiri.

PFA Purchases for the School
The PFA works together with the community to raise funds for key projects for the school. We are pleased to report a few recent PFA purchases including moveable choir risers which can be used for all our different performances, a range of sporting equipment and a sensory pathway which will be developed with Jess Vann and the DARE Artist in Residence program with the Year 6 students.
