Service – the action of helping or doing work for someone – and one of the values at the core of what St Peter’s Woodlands believes.
Raising money for important organisations
Previously, the SSLC at SPW have supported many local charities including the Hutt St Centre, Backpacks 4 SA Kids, The Mary Potter Foundation, HYPA, scosa and in 2024 the HAS Foundation. For these charities alone, around $39,000 has been raised which has had a huge impact on people supported by these organisations.
2025 chosen charity
This year, the SSLC have chosen to support the valuable work of Lion Hearts Learning. This charity works to support children and their families impacted by cancer and children with low immunity due to health challenges. Their goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn, play, and grow.
Lion Hearts Learning is an Adelaide based charity and was set up by Jo Phillips and Matthew Townsend when their daughter Codee-Jo was diagnosed with leukemia in 2017. They discovered that, for children aged 2 to 5 suffering from cancer, there was very limited opportunity in South Australia for them to develop their social and educational needs in both a germ free and safe environment.
Get involved
The SSLC will run a number of exciting events this year to raise money for the work of Lion Hearts Learning. Already this term a Pyjama Day has been held – a cosy day in pjs, slippers and dressing gowns fit for wintry weather, and a great way to kick start the SSLC fundraising for Lion Hearts Learning. The SSLC are very excited about their fundraising which lies ahead for the remainder of this year and we look forward to the community getting involved, make sure to put the following dates in your calendar.
