In the final week of Term 3, St Peter’s Woodlands presented the 2024 Junior Musical, The Jungle Book.

Rehearsing the show was a joy, with a witty script featuring beloved characters like Mowgli, Baloo, Bagheera, and Kaa. The performance was elevated by catchy songs, including the classic favorite, “The Bare Necessities,” which everyone got into.

The musical featured two full casts of students from Reception to Year 3, each delivering multiple public performances and special shows for the school. The students’ confidence and skills grew with each performance, fuelled by overwhelmingly positive feedback. We were also delighted to welcome residents from Kapara Residential Care Home and children from Kate Cocks Community Children’s Centre to come and watch, which is fast becoming a well loved community tradition.

Behind the scenes, careful planning went into every aspect—from set and costume design to choreography and technical management. Under the leadership of Mark DeLaine with the help of dedicated teachers, parents, students, and volunteers, including Year 6 students who helped backstage and over 100 costumes sourced and created by Julie DeLaine, the production was truly magical.

A big thank you to everyone who helped put this special show up in lights. Lastly, congratulations to the students, your growth, enthusiasm and big energy was wonderful to witness.
