Christmas at SPW

18 December 2024

Celebrations and a Whole Lot of Joy!

Term 4 has been another huge one at St Peter’s Woodlands, filled with celebrations, lunches, brunches, and festive cheer! It’s remarkable how much we manage to pack into just eight and a half weeks—it truly highlights the incredible teamwork that makes SPW tick along.

The end of the year is always a time for reflection and celebration, as we close some chapters and begin new ones. It also gives us a moment to pause and remember the true meaning of Christmas—togetherness, love, and kindness, especially for those who need it most.

A heartfelt thank you to the PFA, our teachers, parents, administration staff, and, of course, the students, who fill this time of year with magic and smiles!

ELC at the Glenelg Christmas Pageant
The Early Learning Centre once again delighted spectators at the Glenelg Christmas Pageant. Dressed as sparkly stars and shining with excitement, the children paraded down Jetty Road, spreading Christmas cheer.

Christmas on the Green
Our annual Christmas on the Green brought the community together on a warm and sunny Friday evening. Families laid out picnic rugs to enjoy performances by the SPW student Instrumental Ensembles, the combined choirs (Junior Glee, Show Choir, Chapel Choir), Community Choir and the School Band. It was a magical night of music, laughter, and togetherness to close out the year.

Reception Nativity Play
The Reception students charmed everyone with their performance of the Nativity titled, Boogie Woogie Nights. With heartfelt delivery, loud and confident voices, they had the audience giggling, boogying and cheering.

Mary Potter Hospice Christmas Carols Concert
In keeping with tradition, SPW students performed at the Loving Tree Christmas Carols Concert for the Mary Potter Foundation. This special evening honoured loved ones who passed during the year, and it was a privilege for our students to be part of it. They sang beautifully and displayed compassion and kindness, embodying the true spirit of the season.

PFA Christmas Lunch
Reception to Year 6 students and staff gathered at Piltangka Plaza for the much-anticipated annual PFA Christmas Lunch. The plaza was transformed into a festive wonderland with Christmas decorations adorning the area from top to bottom. Everyone enjoyed some Christmas Carols, including the unofficial SPW Christmas anthem, Feliz Navidad. Coordinating lunch for upwards of 500 students is no small feat, but the PFA delivered a magical event that remains a crowd favourite year after year.

ELC Christmas Brunch
The Early Learning Centre celebrated their Christmas Brunch in the Village Square. Each class performed a Christmas song, delighting parents and staff alike with their enthusiasm and charm. After the applause, the children enjoyed a special brunch at beautifully decorated tables, capped off with a visit from Santa and his excitable elf.

A big thank you to the PFA and volunteers who made these events, the Christmas Raffle, and fundraisers possible. Your dedication brings so much joy to our community—may you all enjoy a well-deserved break!

AnglicareSA Donations
This year, SPW continued its tradition of giving with incredible generosity. Families contributed toys and food as part of the AnglicareSA Toy Trailer and Donation Drive. With two vans full of donations by both the SPW community and St Peter’s Glenelg Church, these contributions helped provide gifts and essentials to families in need, spreading hope and joy at this time of year. An incredible effort for an incredible cause. Thank you to everyone who donated and supported this initiative.

Wrapping Up the Year
As we close another chapter, we are reminded of the power of community, kindness, and the joy of giving. Thank you to everyone who made this term—and this year—so special.

May your Christmas be filled with love, togetherness, and peace. Here’s to a restful break and an exciting new year ahead!
