Celebrating 25 Years

18 December 2024

A quarter century milestone for SPW.

This year marks an incredible milestone—25 years of St Peter’s Woodlands (SPW)! It has been a joyous occasion to unite our current community, old scholars, and alumni to celebrate the legacy and achievements of our wonderful school.

A Legacy of History and Tradition
Although SPW is a relatively young school, it is uniquely enriched by the history and traditions of its predecessors, St Peter’s Glenelg and Woodlands Church of England Girls’ Grammar School. We are privileged to have inherited their deep-rooted legacies, which continue to shape our identity today. Our connections to these schools run deep within our community, with many families and staff holding ties that span generations.

Some of our staff have been with SPW since its inception, carrying forward the vision and values that built our foundation, with one of our longest-serving teachers, Andrew Pipprell, who transitioned from St Peter’s Glenelg to help establish SPW, bidding us farewell this year after 29 years of teaching at SPW.

Other long-serving staff members such as Kate Gulliver, Tassie Mangos, David Kennedy, Michelle Lewis and Angela Doan have also witnessed SPW’s growth and evolution firsthand, contributing significantly to its success.

Generations of Connection
The strong bonds within our community are further exemplified by the families who have had three or even four generations of students pass through Woodlands, St Peter’s Glenelg and SPW. These cherished connections are a testament to the lasting impact of our school and the vibrant network of old scholars who continue to be part of our community.

A Year of Celebration
To honour this 25-year milestone, we hosted a series of events throughout the year, bringing together various pockets of our community. Events such as Gillam Under the Stars, Grandparents & Special Friends Days, Staff Alumni Gatherings, and Family Ties offered meaningful opportunities to reflect on our journey and celebrate with those who have contributed to our success.

These gatherings highlighted the essence of SPW: a school built on collaboration, tradition, and a shared vision for the future.

Looking Forward
As we reflect on 25 years of dedication to primary school education, growth, and community, we also look ahead to the future, inspired by the rich history we carry and the shared commitment of everyone in the SPW family.

Here’s to the next 25 years of learning, connection, and success!
