Developing the leaders of tomorrow
At St Peter’s Woodlands, we believe leadership is about more than just holding a title—it’s about inspiring others, serving the community, and leading with kindness and integrity. Our student leadership opportunities encourage confidence, responsibility, and teamwork, empowering students to make a meaningful impact on school life.
By taking on leadership roles, our students develop essential life skills, preparing them for success beyond SPW while leaving a lasting impact on our school community.
Student Captains
At St Peter’s Woodlands, we empower our students to develop leadership skills, confidence, and a strong sense of responsibility. Our Captains play an essential role in fostering school spirit, supporting their peers, and representing St Peter’s Woodlands with pride.
St Peter’s Woodlands offers leadership programs for Year 5 and Year 6 students, where children are given the opportunity to represent their class, lead their house, or represent the school at external functions and events. These opportunities include running for House Captains, Music Captains, Choir Captains or School Captains.
Buddy up
At St Peter’s Woodlands, we foster a strong sense of community across our Early Learning Centre and Primary School through Buddy Classes. This program pairs older students with younger children, creating meaningful connections and a supportive learning environment.
Through Buddy Classes, students engage in activities that promote leadership, kindness, and collaboration. Older students serve as mentors and role models, helping to build confidence and social skills in their younger peers. These interactions not only strengthen friendships but also create a nurturing transition for children moving from the ELC to primary school, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported every step of the way.
Student Service Leadership Council
The Student Service Leadership Council is a group of students from Year 5 and Year 6 who have been selected following a rigorous application process including application letters, speeches and interviews. Service and agency are both integral to the work of the Student Service Leadership Council (SSLC) at St Peter’s Woodlands with a strong focus on serving the community.
Class Meetings
Across our primary school, children participate in Buddy Classes, where older students engage with younger children to build quality relationships. In Year 5, students conduct a Peer Support Program with junior primary students, helping to develop social skills and the necessary attributes to run small group learning.
