Easter at SPW

10 April 2026

The spirit of Easter was alive and well across St Peter’s Woodlands.

A variety of special events and activities united students, staff, and families, leaving the school community feeling connected as they headed into the long weekend.

Preschoolers visit St Peter’s Church Glenelg
Our Preschoolers, accompanied by ELC staff and many parent volunteers, walked to St Peter’s Anglican Church, Glenelg, to celebrate Easter. Rev’d Andrew warmly welcomed us, sharing the history of the Church and its connection to St Peter, including the significance of the keys featured on our school logo. The children enjoyed learning Easter songs with actions, supported by engaging puppets, before hearing a simplified version of the Easter story through a visual picture book. They then toured the Church, exploring the ‘Stations of the Cross’ created by older students who attend the Church.

Acts of Service
During Library lunchtimes students participated in making book marks for the Kapara Residential Care Home, bringing in the SPW value of Service and spreading some Easter joy.

Easter Play
The Chapel Choir proudly continued their Easter tradition by presenting an Easter play. This year they performed, Dave the Donkey – From Ordinary to Extraordinary, which brings the story of Palm Sunday and Easter to life in a joyful and meaningful way. Dave the Donkey brings the Easter story to life through the perspective of an ordinary donkey chosen for an important role. Blending humour and reflection, the performance explores Palm Sunday, Easter, and the message that everyone has a meaningful part to play.

Easter Egg Hunts
Reception students enjoyed their own touch of Easter magic with a joyful Easter Egg Hunt at the beautiful Partridge House Gardens. With baskets in hand and eyes sparkling, the children scoured the grounds for hidden treats. Thank you to the PFA Receptions Representatives for keeping this much loved tradition alive.

Easter Arts and Crafts
Throughout the week, classrooms from ELC through to the primary years enjoyed Easter-themed activities, from making baskets and decorating biscuits to creating sensory trays and crafts. Highlights included bird’s nest eggs, watercolour paintings, crowns, Easter basket making with buddies.

As the term wraps up, these Easter activities provided a wonderful chance to pause, reflect, and celebrate together as a school community.
