St Peter’s Woodlands has had a flurry of sporting success, where grit and teamwork shown through.

Knockout Soccer
SPW hosted round two of the Soccer Knockout Carnival taking on Black Forest and Nazareth Catholic Community.

Both games were tightly contested and hard-fought from start to finish, with SPW coming away with two well-earned 1-0 victories. The standard of play from both teams was excellent, and the matches were played in a fantastic, sporting spirit throughout. The second game was played during lunchtime and quickly garnered spectators with students cheering the boys on.

This result means our boys have now secured a spot in the state Final Four for the Years 4-6 division, with the next stage of the competition taking place in September.

Knockout Basketball
Our Year 4 – 6 students travelled to the State Basketball Centre for the Basketball Knockout Carnival. Against some tough competition in both the boys and girls teams the SPW boys finished 1st in their pools after the round games, and the girls finished 2nd. Both teams won their cross over finals to advance to the state finals to be held in October. An awesome effort from all involved!

District Athletics Carnival
SPW has claimed the District Athletics Carnival for the South West for the third year running!

A huge congratulations to every student who competed – some took home a medal, others smashed a PB or had a crack at a new event, some even jumped in last minute to help the team out. It was a team effort that made the result possible!

Swimming Carnival
What a fantastic day it was for the SPW community at our annual Swimming Carnival, held on Thursday 6th August at Immanuel College.

Students took to the pool across a full day of races, relays and house spirit, with the four houses going head-to-head for the coveted swimming carnival trophy. The competition was close throughout, with strong performances across all age groups keeping the final result in doubt right until the last events were tallied. It ultimately came down to a brand new addition to the carnival, the Life Jacket Race, to really separate the scores and decide the placings.

When the points were counted, Flinders took out the day with 766 points, holding off a determined Eyre on 735. Light finished third with 645 points, just ahead of Sturt on 636, a result that reflects how tightly fought the carnival was from start to finish.

Beyond the results, it was brilliant to see the Years 3- 6 get behind the day with plenty of cheering from the stands, and every student giving their all in the pool.

Taekwondo
A huge congratulations to Year 5 student Emmii, who competed at the State Taekwondo Championships and took home GOLD!

SPW Sport Spirit
Days like these demonstrate exactly what SPW sport is about: team spirit, effort, and pride in wearing the colours, win or lose. Thank you to our amazing coaches, team leaders, house leaders and parents who helped out on the day. We couldn’t do it without you!
