Encouraging girls’ participation in football.

Crows Cup Competition

The Crows Cup is held at Westminster School for interested primary schools in the area. It is a whole day event aimed at encouraging and supporting girls’ participation in Australian Rules Football. A group of twelve Year 5 and 6 girls represented St Peter’s Woodlands in the competition, with Mr Kennedy (5DK) as the lead coach and myself as the assistant.

This event consisted of 9-a-side competition on small ovals. There were 20 teams in the competition, with our SPW team finishing 13th overall. Team coach, David Kennedy, was pleased with the way the team embraced the football atmosphere with determination and enthusiasm.

The team won their last game by 50 points and, according to coach Kennedy, were “tackling machines!” Well done SPW!
