Christmas at SPW
Christmas at SPW is a special time, where the community are invited to come together for numerous events to celebrate the closing of a school year and get into the festive spirit. It is a time in which we reflect on the year that has been, remember the true meaning of Christmas and celebrate the achievements and growth over the past year.
ELC Pageant
After a two year hiatus (due to COVID-19), the ELC once again joined in the Glenelg Christmas Pageant. Adorned with sparkly stars and bright smiles, the group made their way down Jetty Road spreading Christmas cheer as they went.
Reception Nativity Play
The annual Reception Nativity Play is always a much loved event, with the Chapel filled to the brim with staff, parents and children eager to see what the students have created. With over 100 students taking part, it was the biggest group of children performing the Nativity in SPW’s history. The children absolutely shone, delivering their lines loudly and confidently, and with perfect comedic timing.
The Mary Potter Hospice Christmas Carols Concert
It is a long-standing tradition that SPW perform as part of the Loving Tree Christmas Carols Concert for the Mary Potter Foundation. It is a privilege to be a part of such a special night that honours loved ones who have passed over the course of the year. The students sang beautifully and their kind and respectful demeanor was acknowledged and commented on by many on the night.
PFA R-6 Christmas Lunch and ELC Brunch
Reception to Year 6 students and staff gathered at the Piltangka Plaza for the annual PFA Christmas Lunch. The space was beautifully decorated, with PFA members and volunteers managing to squeeze in over 560 excited students. Everyone was full of Christmas cheer, particularly when a special guest arrived.
The following Tuesday the ELC had their Christmas Brunch in the Village Square. Before the festivities began, each class got up and performed a Christmas song. After a big applaud from their adoring fans (parents and staff), the children enjoyed a special brunch on their beautifully decorated tables and a visit from Santa and a very excitable elf.
Christmas on the Green
The annual ‘Christmas on the Green’ took place on a beautiful sunny Friday evening. Sprawled out on the lawn, families lay out picnic rugs to enjoy the entertainment of the student Instrumental Ensembles, the combined SPW Choirs of Junior Glee, Show Choir and Chapel Choir, the Community Choir (SPW staff, parents and grandparents) and the School Band. It was a joyous night for the community to all come together and send out the year.
AnglicareSA Donations
This year the PFA organised a toy trailer donation drop off to offer families the opportunity to donate a gift to AnglicareSA. The generosity of the SPW families has meant AnglicareSA, who had run out of toy donations, were again topped-up after our load of donations. This important initiative ensures that those families very much in need this Christmas, have some gifts under their tree. Likewise, the food donated by the SPW community will aid in giving many families, during a particular tough year, some food this Christmas.
