The end of Term 1 has seen students bring grit, determination and team spirit to SPW’s much loved sporting events.
Sports Day
In week 9 students brought team spirit and a lot of enthusiasm to the Year 3 to 6 Sports Day.
It was a day fantastic day of participation, performance and personal development. We were so grateful for the incredible support from SPW old scholars, parents and teachers which enabled our students to shine on the big stage at SA Athletics Stadium.
The weather was sunny with one brief shower, which didn’t come close to dampening the amazing house spirit. Congratulations to all of our students on persisting, doing their best and showing grit when the going got tough. The final results were very close with the winner being decided in the relays.
2023 results were:
1st Light
2nd Flinders
3rd Eyre
4th Sturt
Cross Country
On a cool autumn’s morning during the last week of term, Year 3 to 6 students warmed up in preparation for Cross Country. If ever the power of team spirit and support were to be witnessed, Cross Country had it in truck loads. As students lapped the school and ultimately began to tire numerous laps in, staff and team mates were there cheering each student to the finish line. It was wonderful to see students dig deep and reach for the last surge of energy, spurred on by words of encouragement.
The demonstration of persistence and effort was inspiring, and although the winning team gets the honour, every student who gave it their all should feel so proud.
The final results:
1st Eyre
2nd Flinders
3rd Sturt
4th Light
