Gratitude is the heart’s memory. Thank you very much.

As I write this article, I am very aware this is my last piece of writing as Head of Early Years at SPW.

I initially came to SPW during Term 4, 2014, as an educational consultant, to facilitate the redevelopment of the Early Learning Centre and return Out of School Hours Care to the School. It has been a privilege to facilitate both of these projects for SPW, and in doing so, enrich the learning opportunities for children and provide further support and flexibility for families.

After almost four years of service to this community, I look back over my time at SPW and feel a strong sense of gratitude for the opportunity to work in partnership with families and staff from ELC to Year 2.

Whilst there have been many highlights during my time at SPW, I think they can be best summarised as:

  • the opportunities to collaborate with the dedicated and dynamic ELC to Year 2 staff; including those who were here prior to the redevelopment of the ELC and those who we have appointed since.SPW_ELC_1
  • the privilege of engaging with families in relation to the restructure of the ELC, and in a range of ways since then, that emphasise so well, the significance of the partnership between home and school.
  • the sheer delight of the children whose gorgeous little faces say so much; to witness the joy of their interactions, the relaxed way they engage in School life and the trust they demonstrate when they are in our care.SPW_ELC_2
  • all of the ways we continue to improve communication between School and home, our increasingly effective approaches to early intervention through our daily learning and teaching practices and our increasing participation and connectedness across the School so that children feel a strong sense of belonging.

“We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.” Nelson Mandela

I wish all ELC families a wonderful remainder of the year. Thank you for your active support during my leadership time at SPW.

I wish you and your families every blessing for the future.

Yours sincerely
Gemma D’Angelo
