Cherished Moments Across Generations

Grandparents & Special Friends Day is a special day to give our ELC children an opportunity to acknowledge the role their grandparents and special friends play in their lives. These special bonds and intergenerational relationships help us all thrive towards wisdom, empathy and kindness. They are mentors, best friends and awesome historians who guide these young people throughout their childhood.

Across three mornings ELC children celebrated with their special people, starting with an Acknowledgement of Country followed by an opening speech by our Principal, Sarah Noell on Braested Oval. It was the first time The Dr Pamela Wall Centre had hosted this event, and it was wonderful to make use of the rear stage, which opened out onto the oval, allowing the audience to enjoy the fresh air while taking in the performance. Guests were invited to tour the Centre and view the artwork and photo collage hung in Baddams Gallery.

The children began by singing “We Love Our Grandparents”, with the highlight being when all the guests joined in with them to sing “Rock-a-Bye Your Bear”, complete with arm actions. It was a lovely moment, which brought about lots of smiles and laughter. After the performance, our guests enjoyed spending time in the classrooms, playing with their children and proudly watching them share their play and learning spaces.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for this special event. We know how much the children cherish the opportunity to bring their different worlds together and share these special moments with the people they love. Lastly, we are very proud of our ELC children for their amazing performances, they did such a beautiful job and made the day very special.
